Unlike so many people, I wasn’t really into Gwent (or, Gwint, as it’s originally known in Polish) when playing The Witcher 3. So I was completely uninterested in a standalone multiplayer focused free to play game when it was launched and has never even tried playing it since. Imagine my surprise when CD Projekt RED decided to make a story-driven title with Gwent as its central mechanic. I wasn’t looking forward to play it, yet couldn’t resist another story-based visit to the world of The Witcher, which I do like. And… it’s fine.

Revisiting The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition
While The Witcher 1 was a big first and successful attempt to bring the world and feel of adventure of Witcher books to the video games, Witcher 2 wanted to up the quality. Tell an even better story, look better, play better… Which might’ve worked if not for all the issues this game had during the development, issues that are felt throughout the rather messy experience The Witcher 2 is.
Few notes on: Videogame music 2015
I was recently wondering – which were the most memorable game soundtracks last year. And how much of it was 80s inspired synthwave. Turns out, there were synths like that, but not that many and music in general was very varied. It still felt like it had nostalgic notes about one thing or another. And I also want to give a special mention to Metal Gear Solid V, which has a rather average soundtrack of music composed for it if you try to listen to it outside the game, but when in the game – sounds stellar, just like everything sound related in this game.
Revisiting The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
I loved this game back in 2007, before a lot of patches made it better, I love it today, when some of its parts are very outdated. It’s still an amazing adventure in a truly unique world with great story, witty dialogue and Slavic mythology. Though, if you play it in English, it will lose some of its charm (note, I recommend playing it with Polish voice acting even if you leave text in a language you do understand).
The Witcher. Reading the fables
The last story expansion/DLC to The Witcher 3 is upon us. And I haven’t played the game yet because I’m waiting for it. That’s despite the fact that I still remember how The Witcher 3 was launched from within the office of CD Projekt, as I was working at GOG back then. There was much rejoicing *yaaaay*. That’s also despite the fact that I’ve played the first The Witcher game about 3 times in just a few months after it was first released, that’s how much I loved it. But that love for the first game was a surprise to me – I never read the books. They were super popular here in Ukraine, probably less so than in Poland, of course, but we had fans, we watched the TV series… Well, I didn’t. So I wanted to read the books, finally. And so I did. And the books were a bit of a mixed bag.
